Frederick Daniel Pope was born on Friday, 20th August, 1909, in Govanhill, Glasgow.

The 5' 9 (11st 4lbs) forward signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Wednesday, 14th May, 1930.

Aged 20, He made his debut appearance on Tuesday, 19th August, 1930, in a 1-1 draw at home to Rangers in a Benefit match.

Fred scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 27th December, 1930, in a 3-1 win at home to Kilmarnock in the SFL First Division.

He scored the last of his 4 goals on Saturday, 23rd April, 1932, in a 6-1 defeat at home to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for the club on Tuesday, 3rd May, 1932, in a 2-1 defeat at home to Celtic in the Glasgow Charity Cup, having appeared as a Jag on 15 occasions.

His club-list included Partick Thistle, Brentford, Blackpool, Stockport County, Beith and Ayr United.

Fred died sometime between 1st January and 19th August, 1983, in Renfrewshire, aged 73. *
