Donald Fraser McDowell was born on Tuesday, 11th September, 1951, in Glasgow.

The 5' 6½ (9st 8lbs) forward signed for Davie McParland's Thistle on Monday, 14th September, 1970, having most recently been with Sighthill Amateurs.

Aged 20, he made his debut appearance on Monday, 20th March, 1972, in a 3-0 friendly defeat away to Ross County.

Donnie scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 4th August, 1973, in a 2-0 friendly win away to Clydebank.

He scored his second and final goal for the club on Saturday, 24th November, 1973, in a 3-2 defeat at home to Arbroath in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for Thistle on Monday, 29th April, 1974, in a 2-1 win at home to Dundee United in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 14 occasions.

Donnie's club-list included Partick Thistle, St Mirren, Kilmarnock, Falkirk, Arbroath and Petershill.
