 Derek Adam Fleming was born on Wednesday, 5th December, 1973, in Falkirk. The 5' 8 (10st 5lbs) defender signed for John Lambie's Thistle on Thursday, 21st June, 2001, having most recently been with Livingston. Aged 27, he made his debut appearance on Wednesday, 18th July, 2001, in a 5-1 win at home to Alan Morgan Select in a Benefit match. That day, Derek became a member of our scoring debutant's club. He scored the last of his 13 goals on Saturday, 12th February, 2005, in a 1-1 draw at home to Airdrie United in the SFL First Division. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 20th August, 2005, in a 3-2 win at home to Dumbarton in the SFL Second Division, having clocked up 131 appearances as a Jag. Derek's club-list included Meadowbank Thistle, Dunfermline Athletic, Dundee, Livingston, Partick Thistle, Hamilton Academical, Alloa Athletic, Cowdenbeath, Bo'ness United and Linlithgow Rose. |
 Fleming began his career in 1993 with Meadowbank Thistle, where he made a total of 49 appearances before moving to Dunfermline Athletic in 1994. He has also played for Dundee, Livingston, Partick Thistle and Hamilton Academical. In the 2006–2007 season with Hamilton injury restricted him to only 19 first team appearances. He signed for Alloa Athletic under freedom of contract as manager Allan Maitland built a new squad for the 2007–08 season. He was released in May 2008. Flea won back-to-back First Division, firstly with Livingston in 2000-01. He was an integral part of the Partick Thistle side that won the First Division the following season, playing both in midfield and at left back. He will be best remembered by jags fans as scoring the goal at Love Street that secured promotion to the Scottish Premier League. Flea also broke his leg in the process. Derek went on to become a player/coach for Linlithgow Rose. |
