Bio Extra

One of John Lambie's best signings as Thistle boss. Irons' first season at the club, the promotion winning season of 91/92, was spent in midfield where he overcame some initial unpopularity among the Thistle fans to score 8 goals. The following season in the Premier League Lambie moved Irons to a berth in the centre of the Jags defence for a league game at Parkhead. Thistle won 2-1 and Irons was immense and remained in that position for the remainder of the season becoming the overwhelming choice for Player of the Year by the Thistle fans. The player and the manager had a well publicised fall out in the close season and Irons jumped ship and signed for St Johnstone.
