David MacFarlane was born on Monday, 16th January, 1967, in Irvine, North Ayrshire.

The midfielder signed for Sandy Clark's Thistle early in 1990, having most recently been with Kilmarnock.

Aged 23, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 10th February, 1990, in a 1-0 defeat at home to Morton in the SFL First Division.

David scored his only goal for Thistle on Wednesday, 14th March, 1990, in a 4-1 win at home to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for the club on Tuesday, 7th August, 1990, in a 10-1 friendly win away to Tarff Rovers, having appeared as a Jag on 11 occasions.

His club-list included Rangers, Kilmarnock, Dundee, Partick Thistle, Sunshine George Cross and Glenafton Athletic.

David died on Wednesday, 30th October, 2013, in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, aged 46.

Bio Extra

Originally with Rangers, David was signed by Sandy Clark from Kilmarnock in 1989 and played either in midfield or in defence. Scored once against Hamilton Accies. Emigrated to Australia, after just one season at the club.
