David Halley Linton was born on Monday, 8th July, 1912, in East Wemyss, Fife.

The forward signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Tuesday, 18th May, 1937, having most recently been with Dundee.

Aged 25, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 14th August, 1937, in a 4-2 defeat away to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division.

David scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 21st August, 1937, in a 3-0 win at home to Kilmarnock in the SFL First Division.

He scored his second and final goal for the club on Saturday, 4th March, 1939, in a 3-2 defeat at home to Ayr United in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for Thistle on Tuesday, 29th August, 1939, in a 4-1 defeat at home to Rangers in the Glasgow Cup, having appeared as a Jag on 41 occasions.

His club-list included East Fife, Dundee, Partick Thistle, Raith Rovers and St Bernard's.

David died in the third quarter of 1994, in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, aged 82. *
