David Craig |
David William Craig was born on Wednesday, 11th June, 1969, in Glasgow. The 6' 1 (11st 7lbs) defender signed for John Lambie's Thistle on Tuesday, 25th July, 1989, having most recently been with Milngavie Wanderers. Aged 20, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 5th August, 1989, in a 3-1 friendly defeat away to Brora Rangers. David scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 2nd December, 1989, in a 2-1 defeat at home to Ayr United in the SFL First Division. He scored the last of his 3 goals on Saturday, 15th April, 2006, in a 2-1 win away to Stirling Albion in the SFL Second Division. He played his last game for the club on Wednesday, 3rd May, 2006, in a 3-1 win away to Stranraer in a League play-off match, having appeared as a Jag on 39 occasions. David's club-list included Milngavie Wanderers, Partick Thistle, East Stirlingshire, Dundee United, Hamilton Academical, Raith Rovers, Ayr United, Queen of the South, Brechin City, Dumbarton, Arthurlie, Montrose, Elgin City and Stranraer. |
Defender who was recruited from the amateur ranks and spent the infancy of his senior career at Firhill, enjoying his longest run in the team under Sandy Clark. David was never able to fulfil his early potential as a Thistle player and left the club to join East Stirling and has since had spells at Dundee United, Hamilton, Raith Rovers, and is now at Ayr United. |
