Bio Extra

Royal Victoria Football Club was instituted in 1890 and were a very successful local football team winning the Buteshire Challenge Cup in 1896,1897, 1898/99,1899/1900,1900/01/1903/04 and the Knockdow Charity Cup in 1901,1902,1903. The photograph in Daniel's Gallery tab shows them posing in Rothesay Castle with these two cups, the Buteshire Cup on the right. Both these trophies are now in the Bute Museum.

Daniel spent the majority of his playing career there before getting his big move to St Mirren in May, 1909, by then in his late 20s. The left-sided forward played several games with the Paisley side, but couldn't force his way into the team as a regular, and moved to Thistle after a year. It was the same story at Firhill, and Daniel stepped back a level with spells at Wishaw Thistle and Abercorn.
