1926 - STIRLING CHARITY CUP
Thistle had the edge for the first 15 minutes but found the home defence a tough proposition. KP got into the game and hit the post. A clearance off the line denied Thistle the opener just on h-t. A drive (67) won the cup. Gibbs got his fingers to the shot but couldn't keep it out. Earlier, Torbet had missed a penalty. |

1928 - GLASGOW DENTAL CUP
Hampden. The best of the 5-game tournament. Ness headed in a Torbet pass (8). Thistle had the best of it and Torbet scored with a pen (42). Rangers pressed but their forwards failed to gel and Thistle ran out “worthy winners” (GH). A cup to keep! In total, £819 (around £43,000) was raised. |
