Bio Extra

Son of James Drummond (ship carpenter) and Agness Drummond (née Shield).

This right-back started out with his local junior club, Dauntless, before stepping up to the senior grade with Arbroath, making his debut there as a 19-year-old in October, 1891.

He moved to Glasgow for work in 1893 and did well at Linthouse, where he became club captain for a while. He's thought to have tried out for Second Division Motherwell in 1893-94, and that same season he made his top-flight debut at right-back for Rangers on 20th January, 1894. Alas for Bob, the 2-0 loss to Dumbarton on a rainy day at Boghead signalled the end of his brief try-out there, although the Scottish Referee noted: "A few of the Rangers think Drummond of Linthouse only a third rate man. He may be, but he nevertheless played a first-class game on Saturday."

As well as his one-off appearance for Thistle (probably as a guest) he also turned out for Leith Athletic, but he always seemed drawn to Linthouse where he played most often over the course of the 1890s.
