A product of both Aberdeen and Kilmarnock youth academies, the Glasgow-born front man also had short spells with Hamilton and Queens Park youth teams before moving to the US. He completed a two year scholarship with Upper Iowa University. Returning from the States, Blair arrived at Stirling University in 2017, where he studied for his Sports Science degree.

The talented youngster got his first taste of the SPFL at Montrose, moving there in the summer of 2019 from Lowland League side, University of Stirling. He adapted naturally to the step up to League 1 with 7 goals in his first 27 appearances. His impact and ability understandably drew widespread attention in the January transfer window of 2020, and a substantial deal was struck with (then) Championship side Partick Thistle, that included an immediate loan back for the reminder of the 2019/20 campaign. Blair went on to take his goal tally to 10 and his appearances to 32, lifting both the Clubs Young Player of the Year and Top Goalscorer awards, before the pandemic drew the season to an abrupt halt, sending him back to Firhill for what was to play out as an unprecedented summer, ending in relegation for the Jags.

The shortened and stop start nature of the season proved difficult for the 24-year-old forward. He struggled to make any impact in Ian McCall’s side and, as he himself confessed, he found it difficult to adapt to full-time football. It just never happened for him at Firhill. Blair returned to Montrose in June 2021 on a season’s long loan from Partick Thistle. He marked his return with a goal in the opening day Premier Sports match against Brora Rangers. With the help of the PFA, Blair completed a course in tiling, and started to do a bit of part-time work in that field, in breaks from training at both Thistle and Montrose.
