The midfielder signed for David Meiklejohn's Thistle on Friday, 5th February, 1954, having most recently been with Wallhouse Rose.

He made his debut appearance on Saturday, 11th December, 1954, in a 3-1 defeat away to Dundee in the SFL First Division.

There were no goals for Billy during his spell with Thistle.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 13th October, 1956, in a 4-1 defeat away to Rangers in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 3 occasions.
