Archibald McDonald was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The goalkeeper signed for Thistle on Friday, 7th August, 1898, having most recently been with Ayr. He made his first known appearance on Tuesday, 15th August, 1899, in a 4-3 friendly defeat at home to Clyde. Archie kept his first known clean-sheet on Saturday, 4th November, 1899, in a 2-0 win away to Airdrieonians in the SFL Second Division. He registered the last of his 5 known clean-sheets on Monday, 1st January, 1900, in a 5-0 friendly win away to Clachnacuddin. He played his last known game for the club on Saturday, 17th February, 1900, in a 6-1 defeat at home to Rangers in the Scottish Cup, having appeared for the Thistle on at least 29 occasions. His club-list included Ayr and Partick Thistle. We don't know where or when Archie died. *
