The 6' 0 (11st 13lbs) goalkeeper signed for Billy Lamont's Thistle on Saturday, 8th August, 1987 (after a trial period), having most recently been with Fort William.

Aged 22, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 1st August, 1987, in a 3-1 friendly win away to Stenhousemuir.

Archie kept his first clean-sheet on Saturday, 28th November, 1987, in a 3-0 win away to Clydebank in the SFL First Division.

He registered the last of his 12 clean-sheets on Saturday, 20th August, 1988, in a 1-0 win away to Kilmarnock in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 5th November, 1988, in a 5-3 defeat away to Raith Rovers in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 47 occasions.

Archie's club-list included Fort William, Partick Thistle, Queen of the South and Cove Rangers.
