Andy M. Gibson |
Andrew Mitchell Gibson was born on Sunday, 2nd February, 1969, in Dechmont, West Lothian. The 5' 9½ (11st 10lbs) midfielder signed for John Lambie's Thistle on Saturday, 18th December, 1993, having most recently been with Aberdeen. Aged 24, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 18th December, 1993, in a 1-0 win at home to Dundee United in the SFL Premier Division. Andy scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 19th November, 1994, in a 2-1 win at home to Aberdeen in the SFL Premier Division. He scored his second and final goal for the club on Saturday, 26th August, 1995, in a 1-1 draw at home to Hibernian in the SFL Premier Division. He played his last game for Thistle on Saturday, 27th April, 1996, in a 4-2 defeat at home to Celtic in the SFL Premier Division, having appeared as a Jag on 52 occasions. Andy's club-list included Gairdoch United, Stirling Albion, Aberdeen, Partick Thistle, Clyde, Forfar Athletic and Peterhead. |
Not to be confused with the young winger of more recent times, but a striker, and not one of the most successful of John Lambie's forays into the transfer market. He was still a useful player whose hard work was never translated into goals scored. Had a long wait before scoring his first goal for Thistle, ironically a winner against Aberdeen the club from whom he was signed. After leaving Thistle he returned north to Peterhead. |
