Andrew John Dowie was born on Friday, 25th March, 1983, in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.

The 6' 1 (12st 6lbs) defender signed for Derek Whyte & Gerry Britton's Thistle on Friday, 23rd July, 2004 (after a trial period), having most recently been with Rangers.

Aged 21, he made his debut appearance on Monday, 12th July, 2004, in a 2-0 friendly win away to Stenhousemuir.
