Alex Taylor |
Alexander Taylor was born on Wednesday, 13th June, 1962, in Ballieston, Glasgow. The 5' 9 (11st 7lbs) midfielder signed for John Lambie's Thistle in March, 1993, having most recently been with Falkirk. Aged 30, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 20th March, 1993, in a 3-2 win away to Motherwell in the SFL Premier Division. Alex scored his first goal for Thistle on Tuesday, 20th April, 1993, in a 3-1 defeat at home to Aberdeen in the SFL Premier Division. He scored the last of his 10 goals on Saturday, 13th May, 1995, in a 1-1 draw away to Rangers in the SFL Premier Division. That turned out to be his last game for the club, having appeared as a Jag on 73 occasions. Alex's club-list included Dundee United, Hamilton Academical, Walsall, Falkirk, Partick Thistle, Raith Rovers, Ross County and Forfar Athletic. |
Was re-united with John Lambie, his manager at Hamilton, when he joined Thistle from Falkirk for the closing months of the 92/93 season, making his Thistle debut at Fir Park as Thistle came from 2-0 down to win 3-2. A skilful midfielder who had seen service with Dundee United and Walsall as well as Accies and Falkirk, he wasn't a prolific scorer from midfield in the mould of Ray Famingham and Albert Craig, but he did have the pleasant habit of netting late goals against Rangers - twice in the closing minutes of games Alex's goals earned Thistle a point. He helped Ross County to the Third Division title a few years ago and played out the rest of his career in the lower divisions. |
