Bio Extra

Aaron Sekhon had great ambitions of putting Asian footballers on the Scottish map, but it didn't quite work out the way he'd hoped, his only appearance in the red and yellow coming in a 4-1 pre-season loss at Dumbarton in July 2011. He was, however, highly regarded as a reserve team player. In January 2012, he was pipped by Wolves’ central defender Danny Batth in the chase for the very first Asian Football Young Player of the Year Award in the UK.

The 17-year-old, who had joined the Jags in the summer of 2011 from Falkirk, had been featuring regularly for the Firhill reserves and under-19 side and he had been nominated along with Batth, Jasbir Singh of Solihull Motors, Adil Nabi of Premiership ship side West Bromwich Albion and Walsall’s Malvind Benning. The award ceremony took place at Wembley Stadium with Batth, then on-loan at Sheffield Wednesday, picking up the Award ahead of our man.

Again, the 18-year-old was a regular star for the club's second string in 2012-13 but simply could not make his mark in the first team's solid back four which consisted of Stephen O'Donnell, Conrad Balatoni, Aaron Muirhead and Aaron Sinclair.

It was a very disappointed Aaron who left Firhill in the close season of 2013, and he took break from the game for a while. He resurfaced a couple of years later in the Southern Counties East Football League with Lordswood. From there, he joined Hayes & Yeading United in December 2015. Made his United debut and sole appearance in December 2015 against Hampton & Richmond Borough in the Middlesex Senior Cup.

In the close season of 2016, Aaron signed for Kentish outfit Phoenix Sports of the Isthmian League Division One North. They finished 8th out of 24. After a full season there, he moved on to London outfit VCD Athletic of the Isthmian League Division One South where he played for two seasons from 2017-18 onwards.
