The 29th season of Partick Thistle F.C.
scorers in CAPS
1. Sat-12-Sep-1903 [a] W?-? Rangers (Scottish 2nd XI Cup 1st Round)
SFHA. Score not known. Won. Quarter Final bye.
2. Wed-07-Oct-1903 [h] D1-1 Queen's Park (Scottish 2nd XI Cup Semi Final)
SFHA. Line-up and scorer as yet unsourced.
3. Sat-17-Oct-1903 [h] L0-7 Queen's Park (Scottish 2nd XI Cup Semi Final replay)
SR 19/10/1903. Tannoch, Gailey, McKim, Thomas, Gillatry, McDonald, Connor, Gray (W), Hamilton, Paul, Law.
The scoreline says it all. Thistle were no match for the superior Queen's Park Strollers who led 5-0 at half-time. However, they were unlucky not to have at least got on the scoresheet on their second half performance.
4. Tue-05-Jan-1904 [h] D2-2 Glasgow Junior Select (Glasgow Junior FA Fundraiser)
SR 8/1/1904. Wilkie, McLay, Thompson, Harvey, Murdoch, Grieve, McKendrick, WILSON (J), MUIRHEAD, Gray, Wilson (R). Fund raiser for Glasgow Junior FA.
With trialists McLay, Grieve and the Wilson brothers, it took some time for Thistle to get going, by which time they were behind. Wilson equalised against the run of play. A better second half saw Muirhead score but it finished an equitable 2-2.
5. Sat-30-Jan-1904 [a] L1-4 Orion (Friendly)
DEP 30/1/1904. Line-up and scorer as yet unsourced. The authenticity of this fixture may be in doubt. It is listed under "Montrose Matches" in DEP and nowhere else.
6. Sat-20-Feb-1904 [h] W1-0 Beith (Friendly)
SR 22/2/1904. Clymont, McLay, Johnstone, Craig, Murdoch, Bruce, Soye, Law, Hamilton, HASTIE. Only 10 players listed.
In treacherous ankle-deep mud, a fine shot by Hastie put Thistle (trying out some Juniors) ahead. The players did their best in the conditions and it was a close, interesting game with chances at both ends. The Beith keeper was particularly good form.
7. Sat-27-Feb-1904 [a] L1-6 Kirkcaldy United (Friendly)
FFP 5/3/1904. Paul, Gellatly, Orbiston, Gourlay, Murdoch, Bruce, Spence, Muir, Douglas, CRAWFORD, Hastie.
A midfield struggle saw the locals emerge as the most likely and they went 3-up by half-time. They had a goal chalked off then made it 4-0. A converted penalty made it 5. It was 6-0 before Crawford scored then United fired a pen wide. Thistle were poor all over.
8. Sat-02-Apr-1904 [a] W3-1 Rosebank (Friendly)
DEP 2/4/1904. Line-up and scorers as yet unsourced. The authenticity of this fixture may be in doubt. It is listed under "Montrose Matches" in DEP and nowhere else.
9. Tue-03-May-1904 [a] L1-5 Rangers (Govan Distress Relief Fundraiser)
GH 4/5/1904. IZATT. Line-up as yet unsourced. Fund raiser for Govan Distress Relief Fund.
